Jody's work incorporates both the intangible and tangible. He uses his subconscious and conscious together to create abstract surreal images that express common, human emotions using bold color. To describe his work, it has the enigmatic, nostalgic symbolism of Dali, the line of Miro, the space of Matta, and the form of Tanguy, which is painted with the expressive brush of Gorky. Most of his paintings are conceived through his doodling, which become the endoskeletons of his paintings. The work is then fleshed with paint or some other medium. He only controls so much of what is going on through detailing, by letting the medium speak to him. The canvas becomes a window of infinite space and time. In the end, a hallucination unfolds on the canvas.
